On Saturday the 10th of February we held our first UK regional tournament in Scotland. We had a fantastic turnout and some great decks on display! We caught up with the top 8 players at the Scotland regional to find out what decks they used and to ask them a few questions!

JaegerNoon: “I feel that Granite is the most unique hero in the game and offers a very different playstyle; I’ve never experienced a way to win a game with an empty deck before.”
Settlers Shazz: “I wanted to play a really flexible, take on all comers deck and I felt Dolo’s ability gives you options in that regard, and when you really need it lets you surge ahead with the game.”
EmmaL98: “After looking through all the different Storm Heroes, the extra damage for combos that Malia provides suited my multiple corner combo buffs. It was just the best hero for the job today.”
Flazork: “I wanted to try a more aggressive approach to Astral, and Cassini was the perfect fit for that.”
Kyle: “I honestly don’t know, it was the deck I played when I first started, and I just stuck with it. I really enjoy the Mountain playstyle.”
Kimmeh: “I just like the fact that you can just speed up your Action Buffs, it lets you do more in a turn, getting more healing and better value out of your Buffs.”
Darren#1: “Just being able to fast forward my Buffs, to get the extra damage off faster, or get my Hurricane Spirit to the point where I can activate its ability faster.”
Jack Andrews: “Being able to draw cards when I need to is a great ability, I love having access to more options, and doing it with my first action means I get to play a card that I draw straight away.”
JaegerNoon: “Emergency Systems – It got me out of some really tight situations today especially against the aggressive Storm matchups in the room today!”
Settlers Shazz: “Lava Bouncer – It ties in with my flexible game plan, lets me shut out opponents from certain card types, and stops you from dying by taking away attack options.”
EmmaL98: “Storm Wall, I love that it does damage (that gets increased by my Hero!) and it also stops my opponents from attacking.”
Flazork: “Zeppelin Scout – I just love being able to set up my turns in advance, it’s risky if something my opponent does interrupts my turns, but great when it pays off.”
Kyle: “Exteria Defender. It puts people in the position where they either need to play awkwardly around it or they just have to waste cards playing into it.”
Kimmeh: “Stumpdrift Shaman – I like the healing especially the way it gets that big boost at the end!”
Darren#1: “Flying Debris – being able to have the choice to get rid of the payment cards for new ones, or keep my good ones that I needed to use as payment is great.”
Jack Andrews: “Time Flicker – Just like with using Zuna’s ability, I love drawing more cards!”
JaegerNoon: “I think he’s unbelievable, I’m so excited that he’s an umbron, I only wish I could take the giant card home on the plane with me. My ideal Cross-Order Hero would have to be Tech/Storm, the two Orders I added to my Granite deck today!”
SettlersHamilton: “He’s awesome, I’m very excited to try different decks out with him and get some new experiences with playing different orders. I’d have to pick Storm/Nature; my deck could have lots of healing and burst damage.”
EmmaL98: “I really like the ability on it and it has super cool art as well (the art is my favourite part of the cards). I would have to say Storm and Dread would be my perfect mix.”
Flazork: “Really interesting, Cross-Order decks that don’t require Tantosian Blacksmiths to fish out Items will be great, and easy three Order decks here we go. I would have to match up Astral and Dread together.”
Kyle: “Looks good, really good, the only thing is it’s not really in my Orders. If I had my ideal combination for a Cross-Order Hero it would be Mountain/Nature.”
Kimmeh: “Really cool – I can’t wait to get my hands on the new set. Nature Storm would be my pick for Cross-Order Hero.”
Darren#1: “He looks quite interesting, I can’t wait to see the cross storm ones though. My Cross-Order pick would definitely have to be Storm/Mountain.”
Jack Andrews: “Looks really good, seems like a good fit for a Buff based deck with lots of the good Mechanical Buffs. I think that the two Orders that I would like to see combined on a Cross-Order Hero would be Tech/Mountain.”
JaegerNoon: “Playing in the finals was pretty amazing with Forgewall saving the day, providing just enough damage reduction to keep me in it. I guess winning the event was pretty great too!”
Settlers Shazz: “Definitely the epic final that we played, it all came down to a single card at the end, super exciting!”
EmmaL98: “All of it! It was really nice to meet up with more people that enjoy the Lightseekers game!”
Flazork: “Playing the Combo Solar Wind against my 16 health opponent, taking out their life total exactly and winning the game. The whole day was awesome though!”
Kyle: “Getting into the Top 8 cut and realising that I had made it through to Nationals. Really looking forward to getting to compete there.”
Kimmeh: “That I made the top 8 and got my invitation to Nationals!”
Darren#1: “The surprise card reveal at the start of the day, I’m so hyped for Wave 2; can’t wait to get my hands on it!”
Jack Andrews: “Getting to fire off a Time Flicker on my very first turn, and doubling my starting hand from 4 cards to 8 was great!”
