Greetings Lightseekers!
A couple of weeks ago, we made a post detailing some of the updates happening to Lightseekers as well as highlighting a few rule changes. Since then we have continued to review the rules of the game to ensure they are easy to follow, comprehensive enough to cover any situation and offer the best game experience. Fast forward to now, we have a new, up-to-date rules document available for you.
This document will go into effect along with the release of Lightseekers: Mythical on March 20.
We’ve added the new rules regarding Power (those can be found in 6.2.1 in the new document). For those who still wish to use the original rules for Power in their casual games those are also still included in the new Legacy Rules section.
In future if any rules are changed in a similar manner to the changes to Power, the original rules will be maintained in this section so that you have the choice to use them in casual games. They will not be allowed to be used in tournaments.
The new document also breaks down the rules more comprehensively; as a result of this there are now reference numbers throughout the document that can be used by both us and you, the community in answering questions.
The keen eyed among you will notice that the new rules document calls out a companion document, referred to as the Tournament Procedures document. This document will be released in the coming weeks.
Along with a number of minor clarifications to make the rules clearer, there has also been a change to the rules for how moving cards from the hand is dealt with. Previously there were a couple of different ways that players could prove that they did not have cards to move with card effects; you could play on trust, or show the cards in such a way that it only revealed the information about the card that was necessary.
In line with feedback we have received from the community over the last few months; this has now been changed to requiring players to show their entire hand (See 2.8.2.3 in the document). The reasoning behind this change is to create a single, clear rule on how to handle this, that doesn’t require awkward positioning of cards in an attempt to only show relevant information.
We will continue to monitor this change over the coming months and will take action as necessary.
We are always reviewing the rules of Lightseekers to ensure they are the best they can possibly be. We appreciate any feedback our community can share with us so please, do feel free to provide any suggestions on our official forums.
